Fire Awareness Training

If you feel your staff could benefit from fire awareness training, contact us. As one of the UK’s premier teams of fire safety experts, we are capable of providing a training package that is tailored to your specific needs.

What topics will a fire awareness training course cover?

Course core objective: To provide information and knowledge about fire, its behaviour and how to avoid potential fire hazards.

Do I need to book fire extinguisher and fire awareness training?

Following the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it is a statutory requirement that you provide your employees with adequate fire safety training. There is no business or public organisation that is not at risk from fire.

What kind of subjects will be covered?

Should you choose to book a Safety Aide fire extinguisher and fire awareness course for your business or organisation, your staff will be instructed in a comprehensive range of fire safety related subjects. The training will not only improve your staff’s fire awareness, it will also help them to remain calm in the event of a fire. Subjects covered include:

  • Fire safety law
  • Typical human behaviour – how to avoid common errors
  • The fire triangle – how a fire spreads and how to extinguish different types of fires
  • Actions on discovering a fire – how to raise the alarm, which fire extinguisher to
    use, calling the fire service

Who should I send on the course?

The fire awareness training provided by Safety Aide is suitable for all employees or volunteers involved in your organisation, and provides a general awareness of fire behaviour and the use of extinguishers: knowledge that can save lives. The course fulfils your minimum legal obligations under the Fire Safety Order.

How will my staff benefit?

Our fire awareness training can be tailored to the specific needs of your business or organisation. The course aims to provide your staff with knowledge of:

  • Information on raising the alarm, calling the emergency services and evacuation
  • Procedures in the event of a fire or other emergency
  • Fire development, spread and extinction
  • The correct selection and use of fire-fighting equipment
  • Likely human behaviour in a fire situation
  • Fire risk assessment procedures and associated legislation

Fire Marshal / Fire Warden Training

If you feel certain members of your staff would benefit from further fire safety training, allowing them to command greater responsibility in the event of a fire, the Safety Aide fire marshal and fire warden training course presents the ideal solution.

What topics will a fire warden training course cover?

Course core objective: To provide those in positions of responsibility with specific information, skills and knowledge, enabling them to perform the duties of a fire marshal or warden.

The course can be tailored to your specific needs by our exceptionally well qualified fire safety experts, but will in general cover:

  • Fire safety law and risk assessment principles
  • Routine and emergency duties of a fire marshal/warden
  • The fire triangle – how to raise the alarm and choose the correct fire extinguisher
  • Spotting and reporting fire hazards
  • What to do when you discover a fire – raising the alarm and contacting the fire department
  • Evacuation principles/techniques and the management of assembly points
  • Routine and emergency liaison with the fire service
  • Typical human behaviour in hazardous situations, and how to handle it

Whilst many of the topics covered are similar to those covered in the fire awareness course, they are looked at in far greater depth during the training of fire marshals and wardens.

Who should I send on this course?

The fire warden and marshal training provided by Safety Aide allows managers, building supervisors or simply the person responsible for the premises, to act as a controlling figurehead in the event of a fire..

How will my staff benefit from this course??

The presence of a calm fire marshal is not only reassuring for your staff, it can help save lives. The course’s core aims and content includes:

Manual Handling Training

Back injuries can affect all people, in all job roles and all industry sectors. Many are irreversible and can result in significant periods of absenteeism, costing both employers and employees dearly.

What topics will a manual handling training course cover?

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (as amended) set no specific requirements for lifting and handling, such as weight limits.

The ergonomic approach to moving and handling shows clearly that such requirements are based on too simple a view of the problem and may lead to incorrect conclusions. Instead, an ergonomic assessment based on a range of relevant factors is used to determine the risk of injury and point the way to remedial action. Safety Aide manual handling safety training course will provide a good grounding in safe moving and handling techniques, as well as an understanding of the risks associated with such activities.

Here is a brief summary of the course content:

On completion of this occupational health and safety training course, delegates will be able to:
